I am an American caller currently living in England. I started calling in 1980 in Warner-Robins Georgia and have continued to call while traveling with the U.S. Air Force. Henry's wide dance interests and experience are reflected by his membership of many professional organisations including the English Folk Dance and Song Society (he is a former Director and Chairman of the South East Area), Cymdeithas Ddawns Werin Cymru (the Welsh Folk Dance Society), the British Western Dance Association and the Square Dance Callers Club of Great Britain, having organised the Contra and Traditional Dance section of the British National Convention for many years. Henry has represented the Society for International Folk Dancing at Danceworld at Olympia and is one of only three members of Contralab in this country. Henry and his wife, Barbara, are the UK representatives of the Lloyd Shaw Foundation.

In between calling and cueing dances, Henry has written three books on dancing and numerous articles in specialist dance publications. His depth of knowledge and choreographic skills are equally respected on both sides of the Atlantic. As well as teaching dance at many colleges throughout London, Surrey and Kent and Hampshire, he has taught choreography at the New England Folk Festival in Boston, MA and Scottish & Historical dance at Sacramento and UOP Stockton, CA and USA National Square Dance Conventions.

I started dancing in Bermuda in 1980. I started calling in 1986. I am an active member of CALLERLAB and the Square Dance Callers Club of Great Britain. I am willing to travel. I was the featured caller at the Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Square Dance Festival in October 2002, and booked for 2003. I call for the Yellow Rocks SDC and the Lazy River SDC. The latter club will celebrate its 60th birthday in October 2007. My philosophy is to sight call to the floor, calling to a degree of difficulty which the dancers can cope with 95% of the time. I then assist any struggling dancers. Normally with singing call I let the floor relax, except at Advanced. I try and attand and call at the USA National Square Dance Convention every year. Keep smiling, keep dancing. I am available for dances, specials, wekends and festivals throughout the world.

I am a member of the SDCCGB and NARCA, I started calling in 1999 by teaching a square of new dancers, on completion they wanted to continue so we formed 'The Chain Gang'. We dance every Thursday at the Chain Lane Community Centre in Knaresbourgh, Basic mainsteam and plus, since 1999 I have spent many hours teaching dancers new and old from Basic up to C2. I Like and play music from the 60's both country and pop.

I am very active in the Square Dance scene in the UK: - I call several club nights each week as well as weekend events through my club, All Square At Zero, recruiting new dancers using a variation of the SSD program, and proving fun dance evenings, as well as developing existing dancers, through our Mainstream, Plus, A1 and A2 evenings and workshops. - I regularly call "Saturday night dances" (though they are often now in the afternoon) and weekend events locally, in the UK and, on occasion, in Europe and the USA, and call on an annual Square Dance cruise. - I am now the President of the SDCCGB (the Square Dance Callers Club of Great Britain) and continue to be the Chairman of the L&HC RCA (the London & Home Counties Regional Caller Assembly), which means I regularly present and lead discussions on various topics relating to calling, and teach/mentor several of the new UK callers. - I am a staff caller for Shindig productions and have provided the vocals on over a dozen of their releases. - I also call non-Square Dance parties including Barn Dances, Hoedowns and Mixers, often including Line Dances too (as desired by the organisers). - I am also known for including Rectangles, Triangles, Hexagons, Tandem Squares, and Progressive Squares (moving dancers from square to square) and happily include these for variety when asked to do so.

I am a sight caller and have been calling for 25 years. My home club is Village Squares and we are 21 years old in September 2019. I have also called some Saturday dances in the past as well as Hotel weekend and Easter Campout. My music tends to be upbeat, I believe the music should make you 'want to dance'.
