This page describes styling I use when constructing and describing a contra dance.
| Dance Requirements | |
- Each dance must have a Partner Swing.
- Each dance should have a Neighbor Swing or equivalent.
- Swings end on 16-beat phrases.
- Forward and Back starts on 16-beat phrases.
- Identifiers are Gents, Ladies, Ones, and Twos only.
| Style | |
- Gypsy is prefaced by who is active and which shoulder to use (Right or Left).
(e.g., Ladies Left Gypsy, Neighbor Right Gypsy). - Mad Robin is prefaced by who initially goes in front.
(e.g., Ladies in front Mad Robin, Gents in front Mad Robin).
| Fields | |
- The Calls Used field excludes Allemande, Balance, Circle, Forward and Back, Star, and Swing. This field should contain all other calls used in the dance. The purpose of this field is to facilitate searching for particular dances.
