From Parallel Waves or other applicable formations.

  1. Circulate;
  2. Centers Cast Off 3/4 as the Ends 1/2 Circulate;
  3. Center 4 Star 1/2 as Outsides Trade;
  4. Those who meet Cast Off 3/4 as Others move up (Phantom Hourglass Circulate).

Parallel Waves end in Parallel Waves.

From Parallel Waves:

注釈:
  • Depending upon the starting formation, the Outsides Trade could be from a Mini-Wave or a Couple; the Star could be normal or facing; and the final Cast Off 3/4 could be an Arm Turn or a 'Push' Cast.
  • From Parallel Waves, the Lead Center does a Circulate then Cast Off 3/4. This is a 5/4 turn in the middle. As such, it's easy to get disoriented and inadvertently get thrown into the star, when instead you should do the Trade on the outside. When dancing, think about doing a Circulate, pause momentarily to orient yourself and re-evaluate your position, then Cast Off 3/4.
  • The first part of a Motivate is a Circulate, which for the Centers, is not necessarily a Box Circulate. Sometimes Motivate is called from the setup obtained from Parallel Waves after the Centers Box Counter Rotate 1/4. We believe that the caller should give extra words when starting from this formation, such as 'Centers start in a Box' or 'Initially Concentric' so that the Centers do a Box Circulate instead of an (all 8) Circulate.
  • Don't turn the center star until there are 4 dancers in it. Should you turn the star prematurely, the missing dancer will never be able to catch up, and the square will subsequently break down.
  • Motivate requires cooperation and teamwork. When weaker or unsure dancers are in your square, you may need to give them a little extra time to see the formation or to get into the star. Don't plow through doing your part and hope they will catch up. Wait for them, so the entire square can successfully complete the call.
  • The dancers in the star who eventually line up for the final Cast Off 3/4 should raise their outside hand as soon as they determine that they will meet for the final Cast Off 3/4. Raising your hand identifies you to the Outside dancer, thus making it easier for that dancer to determine with whom to work for the final Cast Off 3/4.

応用: Motivate, Star 1/4 (or 3/4, or Don't Turn The Star).

anything Motivate [C2]: Do the anything call; then Finish Motivate (Ends 1/2 Circulate as Centers Cast Off 3/4; Center Star|Diamond Circulate twice as Others Trade; those who meet Cast Off 3/4 as Others move up as in Phantom Hourglass Circulate). Usually ends in Parallel Waves. The anything call replaces the first Circulate. If the anything call ends with the words 'Circulate' or 'Rotate 1/4', those words are omitted. For example, In Roll Motivate is an In Roll Circulate; Centers Cast Off 3/4 as the Ends 1/2 Circulate; Center 4 Star 1/2 as Outsides Trade; Those who meet Cast Off 3/4 as Others move up.
