Right | Left Wing Concept [C4]

Right Wing anything:
Do the anything call as if you started as a Beau. That is, if you are a Belle, do the anything call as if you had first side-stepped to the left to become a Beau (i.e., assume that the starting formation is a Right-handed setup). EN: 10

Left Wing anything:
Do the anything call as if you started as a Belle. EN: 20

Noter:
  • Think about Right Wing as follows: EN: 30
  • The obvious cheat for Right Wing is that those in a Left-Hand Mini-Wave do a Slide then all do the given call. EN: 60
    • This cheat often results in bad flow, and is not applicable from all starting formations (e.g., some T-Bones). Therefore, I recommend that you do not use the cheat to dance the Right | Left Wing CONCEPTEN: 70
    • Please only use the cheat in a tape-group walk-though type of environment while you are learning how to properly dance the concept. EN: 80
  • Right Wing is not the same as do the Beaus' part of the callEN: 90
    • For example, consider a Right Wing Swap Around from a T-Bone 2 x 2 in which everyone is a Trailing Belle. The Beaus' part of a Swap Around is to Run; however, from this position, on a Right Wing Swap Around, everybody would do a Right-Face U-Turn Back. EN: 100

Standard applications: EN: 110

Right Wing Follow Thru:

(everyone is a Beau)

Beaus dance the call normally; The Trailing Belle does a Cross Extend & Hinge; The Lead Belle does a Step Thru & 1/4 Right. EN: 120
Right Wing Follow Your Neighbor:

før
Right Wing Follow Your Neighbor
 efter

Beaus dance the call normally, as Belles pretend that they are Beaus and do the call. The Trailing Belle does a Cross Extend & Cast Off 3/4, as the Lead Belle does a Step Thru & (in place) Right-face 3/4 turn. EN: 130
Right Wing Transfer The Column:

Centers Cast Off 3/4 & all Extend

Harder applications: EN: 140

Left Wing Circulate:

Same as Beaus work Crossover: all CirculateEN: 150
Left Wing Spin The Top:

 efter
Fan The Top
(færdig)

From here, pretend that the starting formation is a Left-Hand Wave (i.e., everyone is a Belle). On the first part of the call, the Belles do a normal Left Arm Turn 1/2 whereas the Beaus do a Left-face U-Turn Back. The Beaus turn to the Left because they imagine that the starting formation is a Left-hand wave. EN: 160

Examples where the cheat of 'Slide then do the call' doesn't work: EN: 170

Right Wing Follow To A Diamond:

Leaders work Right Wing: all Follow Your Neighbor:

før
Leaders work Right Wing:
all Follow Your Neighbor
 efter

Since only the Leaders are working Right Wing, the Leaders can't cheat by doing a Slide because the adjacent spot is occupied by another dancer. EN: 180
