A barcode scanner can be used with SQROT.
Dancers scan their barcode to change their status
-
Scanning a dancer barcode toggles their status between 'Ready' and 'Absent'.
-
The operator can change the program behavior so that 'Sitout' is also included
within the toggle values.
-
On a successful scan, the scanner beeps, and the program displays
the Last Scan window,
a temporary window indicating the result of the scan.
The Last Scan window displays the results of the scan.
The window is color-coded where
green = ready, yellow = sitout, and red = absent.
After a scan, the dancer status is also updated in the grid displays.

Additional Notes:
Configuring the Scanner:
-
To use a scanner with SQROT, configure the scanner via
Preferences - Global on the Scanner Tab
-
Be sure to set the following parameters:
- Terminator code
- Default action
- Fade out time
Other Issues:
-
To the program, the incoming scanner data appears as if it came from the
keyboard. The only difference is that the data comes in much faster.
The scanner reads the data from the barcode, converts it into text, then
sends the text characters and a terminator code to the computer.
SQROT allows for 3 different terminator codes:
- Control+J
- Carriage Return
- Tab
If the scann doesn't work, it's probably because the
wrong terminator code is set within SQROT.
The terminator code can be changed via...
Preferences - Global on the Scanner Tab
or via the Rotation Window menu option
'File | Scanner | Terminator Code'.
-
If the scanner stops working, reset the interface via...
-
Rotation window menu option 'File | Scanner | Reset', or
-
Right-click on lower right portion of rotation window and select 'Reset'.
