Dancer Table

The Dancer Table is the list of dancers from which the program will draw to create each rotation.

Each dancer must have an entry in the Dancer Table. The entry includes the dancer's name, attributes, and other fields.

There are ways to view the Dancer Table: via the Grid Display and via the List Display:

Toolbar

  • Add Dancer(s) to Table - opens the following popup menu:

  • Edit Dancer(s) - Select several dancers, then press this toolbar button to easily change attributes for a set of dancers. See Dancer Table - Edit Dancers.
     
  • Flags - allows flags to be associated with the selected dancer.

  • Notes - allows a text note to be associated with the selected dancer.
     
  • Tag - allows a small comment, such as dance level, to be associated with the selected dancer.
     
  • Delete - after a confirmation prompt, deletes the selected dancers from the Dancer Table.
     
  • Grid - opens the Grid - Customize dialog box.
     
  • Help - displays this help page.
     
  • Grid Display and List Display - changes the view of the Dancer Table between the Grid and List displays.

Popup menu

The popup menu is invoked by right-clicking on the Grid Display or List Display.
This menu applies to the currently selected dancers.

File menu

Edit menu

  • Add dancer - Opens the Dancer Table - Edit window to add a dancer to the table. All information for the dancer can be specified via this method.
     
  • Add couple by name - Opens the Dancer Table - Add Couple by Name window.
     
  • Add couple by number - Opens the Dancer Table - Add Couple by Number window.
     
  • Add several couples by number - Opens the Dancer Table - Add Several Couples by Number window.
     
  • Add from Global Database - Opens the Dancer Table - Add from Global Database window.
     
  • AACE - Add couple by number - Opens the Dancer Table - AACE - Add Couple by Number window.
     
  • AACE - Add several couples by number - Opens the Dancer Table - AACE - Add Several Couples by Number window.
     
  • Edit selected dancer(s) - If exactly one dancer is selected, opens the Dancer Table - Edit window to edit all information for the selected dancer.

    If more than one dancer is selected, a dialog box allows a subset of fields to be changed for the entire group of selected dancers. These fields are: Role, Preferred Role, Category, OK w/Single, Vaccinated, Tag, and County + State.
     
  • Flags for selected dancer - Opens the Dancer Table - Dancer Flags dialog box to modify flags associated with the selected dancer.
     
  • Notes for selected dancer - Opens a text editor to allow the operator to enter notes about the selected dancer.
     
  • Tag for selected dancer - Opens a single line text editor allow the operator to enter a small comment about the dancer. This field is usually used as the dance level for the dancer.
     
  • Set Flags for several dancers - Opens a dialog box allowing the specification of one or more flags that will be set for all selected dancers.
     
  • Clear Flags for several dancers - Opens a dialog box allowing the specification of one or more flags that will be cleared for all selected dancers.
     
  • Print Barcode for selected dancer(s) - Opens one window for each selected dancer, to print that dancer's barcode. The intended use for this function is to send an individual barcode to a barcode printer. If, instead, you wish to print a page of barcodes for selected dancers see Barcodes, in particular the 'Multiple Barcodes' tab and the 'Selected Dancers from Dancer Table' button.
     
  • Delete selected dancer(s) - after a confirmation prompt, deletes the selected dancers from the Dancer Table. Dancers that are currently in a rotation will not be deleted. If dancers can not be deleted, a message appears indicating the reason.
     
  • Select All - selects all dancers in the grid.
     
  • Clear Selection - unselects all dancers in the grid.
     
  • Invert Selection - changes all selected dancers to unselected, and vice-versa.

Display menu

  • Examples of the two display types are shown at the top of this help page.

    The currently active display type is shown highlighted within the menu.

Global Database menu

  • Update Global Database from Web - downloads the lastest version of the Global Database from www.ceder.net.
     
  • Local IDs to Global IDs - Populates the 'Global ID' field of the Dancer Table by matching names in the Dancer Table with names in the Global Database.
     
  • Upload Selected Dancer(s) to Global Database - after a confirmation prompt, sends data for the selected dancers to www.ceder.net for possible inclusion into a future version of the Global Database.

    Only the following fields are uploaded: ID, Name, Role, Preferred Role, Ok w/Single, Tag, Partner ID, Country, and State.

    Upon validation, changes are made to the Global Database. This process may take a few days.
     
  • Add Dancers from Global Database to Dancer Table - opens the Dancer Table - Add from Global Database to add dancers from the Global Database.

Grid menu

Tools menu

  • Clear Dancer Table - after two confirmation prompts, deletes all dancers from the Dancer Table that are not currently in a rotation. To clear the entire Dancer Table, first delete all rotations.
     
  • Export to Text File - creates a text file of minimal data from the Dancer Table. If more than one row is selected, a prompt appears whether to export the entire table or just the selected rows.

    The only fields exported are: Name, Role, OK w/Single, Preferred Role, and Vaccinated.

    Each row in the exported file contains the name of either a single dancer, or the two dancers within a couple. The name(s) are followed by a 4-character string indicating the Role (B,G,A), OK w/Single (Y,N), Preferred Role (B,G,A), and Vaccinated (Y,N).
     
  • Import from Text File - imports a file in the same format at 'Export to Text File'.
     
  • Export to Comma-Separated Values (CSV) File - creates a Comma-Separated Values file of all data in the Dancer Table.
     
  • Export to Tab-Separated Values (TSV) File - creates a Tab-Separated Values file of all data in the Dancer Table.
     
  • Import from CSV or TSV File - imports a file in the same format at 'Export to CSV File' or 'Export to TSV File'.
     
  • Set All Short Names to XXX,X format - after a confirmation prompt, sets all Short Names to XXX,X format (i.e, the Short Name for "Vic Ceder" becomes "CED,V"). There is no undo for this function.

     
  • Set ALl Couple Names to their default - after confirmation, resets all couples names to their default.
