 Advance/Retard The Clock

Definition:

This was an early form of the Box Circulate except that dancers did not change their facing direction as they circulated. From a double pass thru formation, for example, each group of four (in their own half of the set) "rotated" one position clockwise without changing facing direction on "Advance the Clock." They moved counterclockwise on "Retard the Clock."

This definition is from The Handbook of Modern Square Dancing by Jay King.
