- This is a generalized T-bone concept in which some dancers act in the designated formation while the others act in the counter rotated (or inverted) formation. The most common cases use columns and waves (or lines) or vice versa. Thus if designated dancers (e.g. boys) are specified as standard in waves then they will do the next call as though they were in waves while the others (girls) will do the call in columns. Note that the girls could have been designated as standard in columns to achieve the same result. Other complementary formations are big blocks and staggered columns, "O" (pregnant columns and pregnant waves).
