Carsten Nielsen |
In the fall of 1989, the club where he danced didn't have an instructor or caller. Carsten would help out by flipping the tapes that were used. After a short while, he became interested in how calling was done.
In January, 1990 Carsten went to three caller schools with Robert Björk and Ingvar Pettersson. In 1991, he attended a caller school with Don Beck and Al Stevens.
Since 1990, Carsten has been invited to call at the National Convention in Denmark three times and the Swedish Convention once. He has also been featured as a Caller on the European Square Dance Convention in 1997 (Hocheim, Germany), and 2002 (Copenhagen, Denmark). Additionally, he has called at special dances in Germany, Poland, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, USA and Canada.
Carsten is a member of Callerlab, and currently serves as vice president in the Danish Caller Association "CSD-Denmark".
In 1996, Carsten was invited to become a Staff Caller for Sting Records. In October 2006, Carsten stepped down from Sting to became part-owner of New-Beat.
