Profile in Callers and Cuers John & Karen Eubanks took their first square dance lessons in 1967, then John began calling in 1969.
John was fascinated by square dance choreography. He said one thing that helped him off to a good start was their teacher & caller, Doyle Rutherford, had the patience to teach the basic square dance moves very well. John has been calling and teaching square dance basics from mainstream through advanced level for years in the Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Oklahoma 4-state area. John has called at many weekend and state festivals all over the USA. He is a recording artist on several square dance labels and has recorded somewhere around 20 square dance CDs and 45 RPM records for Square Tunes Records, Pioneer Records, Big Mac Records and Sunny Hill Records. John calls for three clubs, 2 in Missouri and one in Arkansas, and travels on weekends to do guest calling all over the 4-state area, John has limited his travel in the last 4 years to dances he can call and come back home after the dance is over. After 43 years of calling and travel he is working with the clubs that are close to him and trying to help build their clubs up with new dancers. He also conducts workshops and weekend festivals when his schedule permits. John retired from the Depart of Defense as Senior Quality Assurance Specialist in Electronics, where he worked for 34 years. John is member of Caller Lab and attends meeting as his schedule permits. John & Karen have been married for 46 years and have 2 children (one son and one daughter) and 5 grand children (4 boys and one girl) that they love very much and enjoy spending as much time with as possible.
John and Karen have been on square dance cruises and conducted square dances in several islands, Hawaii, St. Thomas and San Juan Puerto Rico. John loves to play golf and boat on the lake when his schedule permits.
