Gene Trimmer |
As told by Larry Marchese:
Gene Trimmer, Square Dance Caller (wife: Thelma)
Enjoyed playing golf.
Retired from the US Air Force in 1973 and became a full-time caller. Unfortunately, Gene died October 5th, 1987 due to a heart attack.
Gene was a member of the Callerlab Board of Governors in the 80s. He also chaired other Callerlab committees (for example, Plus Quarterly committee). Gene presented sessions at various Callerlab conventions.
Gene’s Note Service was called Mainstream Flow.
Books written by Gene:
Recorded several tunes on TNT.
He wrote choreography on a computer (text only) in the early 80s. I don’t have any details.
Gene was known as a choreographer to callers, but dancers knew him as an entertainer. He was both a ventriloquist (with his sidekick Roger) and a Pantomime specialist (using music from Ray Stevens). He was always the hit of the afterparties and really funny. I was lucky to see him perform many times.
Taught at various caller's schools.
