Profile in Callers and CuersJohn was born August 23, 1924 in Chicago, IL. He sang with a Country/Western band before he and his wife began dancing in 1947 and he started calling in 1954. His job transferred him to Springfield, MA in early 1963 and he happened into the New England Square Dance Convention where he met Earl Johnston. He secured his first New England club after calling a couple of guest tips at the Bay Path Barn with Chet Smith. For many years, John worked Hidden Valley Dude Ranch with Ken Anderson and Dick Jones and Red Bates. John recorded on Flip, Red Boot, Lore, Longhorn, and Jay-Bar-Kay labels. John was inducted into the Square Dance Foundation of New England's Hall of Fame in 2008.
