From granddaughter Cheri Sundstrom:
My mom says that he got into square dancing because of his boss that the time Bob and Ann Gilbreath. They keep nagging him to come to a class and he instantly fell in love. Within a year, he started calling. My grandparents, Jerry and Joyce, started a few clubs here in Barstow, CA and traveled all over the United States calling and dancing.
I remember visiting his house when I was little and he would be in his spare room of his house with the music playing and a little board that had little wooden figures on it while he was trying to choreograph songs.
He had 1 brother, Tom, who also started calling square dancing. My grandpa was diagnosed with cancer in his voice box (I don't remember what year, somewhere in the 80's I think). During his treatments he had to have his voice box removed and was forced to stop singing. He died in 2010.
