Profile in Callers and Cuers Harold L. "Monk" Moore has been calling since 1971 and travels to call as time permits. He is a member of Callerlab, North Carolina and South Carolina Callers Association. He has been a member of the European Teachers and Callers Association; Spokane, Washington Callers Association; the Callers and Cuer's Council of the Greater Fayetteville Area, and is currently a member of the Overseas Dancers Association. He has served in numerous capacities within these associations. Monk has called at numerous festivals throughout the United States and Europe and has conducted several Caller Clinics. He records on Tarheel Record label and is owner and producer of Double M Records. Monk served on the National Convention Ceremonies Committee in Charlotte, NC in 1998. He and his wife Ann have served as Assistant General Chairman/Programs to the North Carolina State Convention. They served on the Fashion Show Committee for the 56th National held in Charlotte. In 2007 Monk and Ann were selected to the Callers Hall Of Fame for the state of North Carolina, for their outstanding support to square dancing. Monk is retired from the United States Air Force with twenty-six (26) years service. He is a disabled veteran, a lifetime member of the DAV, the American Legion, and the VFW. He has been Quartermaster for the local VFW Post 6983 for the past 25 years. He is a member of the Angier Baptist Church. Monk presently calls for the Angier Twirlers and fills in at other clubs. His travels has taken him to twenty one (21) states and seven (7) foreign countries including, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland, England, Turkey and the Providence of Canada. Monk calls each year in October for the Lava Klinkers Square Dance Club in Hilo, Hawaii for their annual Hot Foot Stomp Dance Festival, which is held on a live volcano at the KMC Military Camp Volcano National Park Hilo Hawaii.
