Profile in Callers and Cuers Robert Kennedy born 1952; started square dancing around the age of 10 years old. He danced for approximately 15 years before leaving the activity. In 1996 he began dancing again and met his wife, Judy, at the Swinging Stars Square Dance Club on Halloween Night. They were married a year later in a Square Dance Wedding.
In 1997 Robert decided to try his luck at calling. Mike Summers took him under his wing, and for about a year Robert traveled every other weekend to Mt. Airy, NC to learn and practice calling.
On May 15, 2000 Robert Kennedy, Chris Hepler and Donnie Chapman recorder their first two records "Lightning Does the Work" and "American Pie" under the Blue Square Records label. On September 25, 2000 "JR Records" was born in order to produce and distribute quality square dance music.
Robert became the caller for the Tanglefoots in Greensboro, NC after the retirement of Curtis Morrow until the Tanglefoots folded.
On July 27, 2004 he became the caller for the Salem Squares in Winston-Salem, NC after the retirement of Dick McPherson.
On January 3, 2008 he became the caller for the Shallowford Squares in Elon, NC after the retirement of George Jackson.
He has served as the President of the North Carolina Caller Association.
