Global Music Productions was started by Doug Bennett. The first release was in May 1995.
Never really caring to become a recording artist himself, Doug started the label
because he felt there were not enough ballads being released by the other square
dance music producers. He felt that a lot of good tunes were being overlooked.
All of Global music was recorded at McClains Recording Studio in Garland (originally
in Dallas) TX. Mike McClain was the recording engineer & keyboard player. Milo Deering
(who played with LeeAnn Rimes for quite some time) was on steel guitar, fiddle & mandolin.
Jerry Matheny played electric & acoustic guitar and Dobro. When Jerry was unavailable,
Rocky Gribble played guitar and banjo. There is a large "staff" on GMP because Doug
just offered the opportunity to whoever wanted to make a record. Bob & Marie Shiver
purchased the label from Doug in June 2009. Tracy Brown purchased it after Bob's passing.
