Hubs Trade Circulate --> not the same as Hubs Trade Back,
since adding '& Roll' is different. In one case, only the
new Ends can Roll.
Modify definition of Checkpoint to say Very Ends and Very Centers.
Truck definition should also have 'Reverse Truck',
like we do for the Cross & Turn definition.
She says that your definitions of Invert and Cross Invert are slightly
different and would be more consistent if the wording for the trailers
part (Extend once for each 1/4, for example) were the same.
Sets In Motion
Your definition and notes do not make clear the resulting formation when all 4 ends are leaders.
SD has the original centers still in the center. That seems correct to me.
Message = On Rims Trade {anything} the Rims should do the {anything} concentrically
(if not an 8 dancer Call). What about Hubs Trade {anything}?
For example: From Waves - Hubs Trade Zing. Is it a normal Zing (to footprints)
or a concentric Zing (Lines to Lines). Most dancers would do a normal one.
What about Hubs Trade Follow Thru (from Waves). Do the Hubs their Follow Thru
concentrically, or do all 8 Dancers the Follow Thru.
That's not very clear from the definition.

Ignore the word 'Concentric'. I should have said something
like "If the anything call is a 4-dancer (or less) call,
dancers do the call working with the 4 dancers in the center of the set."

"Hubs Trade Zing" is a normal zing.

"Hubs Trade Follow Thru" (from Waves) would have some dancers crashing
on the same spot. The "Follow Thru" only applies to the new ends.
The caller must say "Concentric" if he/she wants a Concentric Follow Thru.

Sorry for any confusion.
Grand Chain Eight

"Move Along" means to walk forward, in an arc as necessary to meet the
next person.

From Out-Facing Lines, it is equivalent to Bend The Line.

From a Thar, we could have the Heads/Sides/Boys/Girls/Whatever Run,
then say "Move Along (to Lines)", which sort of be like 1/2 of a
Bend The Line.

Add a note to the C2 definition in our book.
Anything Coordinate/Motivate/Percolate/Perk Up

Is this calling handling only these 4 calls? Or is it any
call which starts with a Circulate? In that case I that
fact must be explicitly stated. Or if it's only these 4,
then the last sentence in the first paragraph is superfluos.

The given call (Coordinate, Motivate, Percolate, or Perk Up)
must begin with a Circulate.

They do. So I guess you have to add an "eg"
Hubs/Rims Trade

One of the notes:

Hubs/Rims Trade anything can be done from a Line of 4.
Hence from a Line, be sure to work on each side.

I don't understand the warning. Each side? For part 1
or for part 2. Rims anything you don't do it on each
side.
Truck

'Position' in terms of this definition refers to a spot that
could be occupied by a dancer. Within a 2 x 4 there are eight positions.

A Squared Set, Butterfly, or "O" is a 16-Matrix (4 x 4) formation, and
one position refers to an adjacent spot within that rectangular grid.

You could get the impression that Truck has to be done WITHIN the
original matrix. As I understand it, Truck is a Space invader and can therefore
increase/decrease the matrix the formation is mapped on.
entry = Unwrap The {formation}
Message = The example with "Unwrap The Diamonds (from Facing Diamonds)" does not seem to follow the definition. Consider the boy dancer #4. After the first circulate, he meets the condition for:
"Other dancers do formation Circulates until reaching the lead dancer's starting position & then walk straight ahead to follow the lead dancer."

He is in the lead dancer's (girl #4) position, so the definition says he should walk straight forward. His orientation is the opposite of her initial one though.

Boy dancer #3 has a similar odd interaction with the definition. After 1 circulate he is in a plausible position where, if the leader had started here (she didn't), then he would continue forward. For some reason he continues forward anyway.

The callerlab definition is consistent with your text. It seems a good thing to fix that. Switching from circulating to walking out to the column is a function of being a trailing point, not of being where the initial trailing point was.

Relocate
"From the given formation or any applicable formation"
Is that another way of saying that you can call just Relocate
Reverse Crazy
The note should be part of the definition
A suggestion for the next edition of the C-1&2 Ceder Chest, please include
diagrams for Interlocked Exchange the Diamonds (or is the correct parsing
Exchange the Interlocked Diamonds? - Bill A.'s program prefers the latter).
Apparently Rich Silkett called a couple of weeks ago and much discussion
about the traffic pattern ensued.
Bill's program moves the dancers per the rule, i.e. circulate around the
outside of the new diamond you are exchanging to.
Also, suggestions on traffic flow would be good. Normally, I tell people to
let the centers out first and then the ends go, but in this instance it
almost makes sense to let the trailing point interlocked diamond circ first
and then the center circulate out. Regardless of who goes first this call
results in a lot of "yielding" in order to avoid fender benders.
entry = Hubs | Rims Trade Back | {anything} Message = Dear Vic,

In my role as Clark's vice-chair of the Definitions Committee, I got e-mail about the definition of Hubs/Rims Trade Back/{anything}. It turns out that the confusion was actually with the Ceder Chest definition, which reads differently from the Callerlab one. (The Callerlab one doesn't have this problem. Actually, this is the first time I've EVER preferred the Callerlab definition.)

In your definition, you say that Hubs = "original Centers who are now Ends". I think you should say "original Centers" in case original Centers are not the Ends. The examples sent to me were Initially 1 1/2 Hubs Trade {anything}. And similarly, Reverse Order Rims Trade Back was unclear.

Rims has the same problem in your definition.

Sincerely,

Michael

Add subcall 'Scoot And Relocate'
The last long paragraph, very last sentence, please change "and *the* re-establish the
footprints of the distorted formation."
to "and *then* re-establish the footprints of the distorted formation."
Drop: think about Bryant's Drop from 1x4 Column.
Grand Chain Eight:
 1) Add sub call for All Eight Chain.
 2) Def: right pull by, move along, courtesy turn the one you're facing.
 3) It has to be that the first part of the call is a right pull by.
 a) From Magic Columns; those facing start GC8.
 b) From Parallel R-H 2FL: Initially As Couples GC8.
 c) From Out-Facing Lines: Ends Finish GC8.
 d) It's consistent with Chain The Square, Rotary Spin, etc.
Reshape:
A Reshape is move one position forward, turning 1/4 toward the center of the triangle,
with the apex dancer adjusting as necessary to form the other kind of triangle.
Catch:
In the work Clark and I do for the definitions committee, we may be slightly changing the definition of Catch n. The Ceder Chest may want to make a similar change.

The issue:

a) "Square Thru, on the nth hand" has an ambiguous ending formation. Many people (including me) believe that "Square Thru, on the 4th hand Recycle" is improper.

b) In the definition of Catch, clarifying with "Step To A Wave" doesn't really help, since that's not exactly true when you're stepping to a Left-Hand Wave, i.e. Catch 2 or 4.

The obvious solution is to make the first part "Square Thru n To A Wave." I'm proposing that for the CALLERLAB definition, and I'd like to suggest the same solution for the Ceder Chest.
