• The words 'step ahead' mean that the Trailers need to 1/2 Circulate if the starting formation is a 2 x 2, or (full) Circulate if the starting formation is a "Z".
• At the Plus level, the standard starting position for Peel The Top is a L-H "Z" in which the Boys are Leaders and the Girls are Trailers. This formation is usually setup from Parallel R-H Waves (Girls as Ends, Boys as Centers) by having the Girls Fold.
• From a Wave, Ends Fold followed by Peel The Top is equivalent to Spin The Top [Mainstream].
• From Parallel Waves, Peel The Top can be difficult to see. Work with the 4 dancers in your Box, not your Wave.

Fan The Top [Plus] (Deuce Williams 1967): From a Line or Diamond with the Centers in a Mini-Wave; or from Facing Couples, in which case dancers first Step To A Wave. Centers Arm Turn 3/4 as Ends walk forward in an arc, turning 90°, to move up 1/4 of a circle around the center of the 4-dancer formation. A Wave or Facing Couples ends in a Wave.

Peel Off [Plus] (Howard Liffick 1962): Aus einer passenden 2 x 2 (normalerweise eine Mini-Wave Box oder Tandem Couples) oder einer "Z"-Formation. In einer Bewegung, Leaders flip away (180°) weg vom Zentrum der 4-Tänzer-Formation und tritt vor falls erforderlich, während die Trailers vortreten falls erforderlich und U-Turn Back, durch Drehung weg vom Zentrum der 4-Tänzer-Formation. Eine Nicht-T-Bone-Startformation endet immer in einer Line.

Trail The Top [C4]: From a Mini-Wave Box, applicable "Z", or applicable T-Bone 2 x 2. Leaders Trail Off as Trailers step ahead (to join inside hands with each other); Fan The Top. Trail The Top is the same as Peel The Top except that the Leaders Trail Off instead of Peel Off.
