From any Line of 4.

Explode [A1]:
As one movement, Centers Step Ahead & 1/4 In as Ends 1/4 In & Step Ahead.
Adjust as necessary to end in Facing Couples.

Explode The Line [A1]:
Explode; Right Pull By.
Ends in Back-to-Back Couples.

Fra en One-Faced Line:

før
Explode The Line
  efter

and adjust to Facing Couples
(efter Explode)
 efter

(færdig)
Fra en 3 & 1 Line:

før
Explode The Line
  efter
Centers Step Ahead, all 1/4 In
and adjust to Facing Couples
(efter Explode)
 efter
Right Pull By
(færdig)
Fra en Two-Faced Line:

før
Explode The Line
  efter
Centers Step Ahead, all 1/4 In
and adjust to Facing Couples
(efter Explode)
 efter
Right Pull By
(færdig)
Note: From a Two-Faced Line, the dance action for Explode The Line is often awkward. Many callers believe it is illegal, or avoid calling it from any Line in which the Centers are facing opposite directions.

Noter:
  • Explode The Line is the generalization of Explode The Wave [Plus].
  • The most important thing to remember about Explode The Line is "Centers Step Forward".
  • If an End and adjacent Center are facing the same direction, the End should back up slightly before turning 1/4. Dancing Explode this way is preferable because, upon completion of the call, the Couples are not offset and no adjustment is required.
  • Be sure to adjust to Facing Couples before the Right Pull By. Should you fail to do this, you may end offset after the Pull By. The ending formation should be Back-to-Back Couples.
  • After Explode, everyone can Roll. After Explode The Line, nobody can Roll.

1/4 In [A1] (Jim Faulkenberry og Clarence Watson 1959): From a Couple or Mini-Wave. Turn 90° in place toward the adjacent dancer. Ends in Facing Dancers.

Explode And anything [Plus,A1]:

  • From a Wave or Inverted Line [Plus]. As one movement, Step Thru & 1/4 In. Ends in Facing Couples.
  • From a Generalized Line [A1]. As one movement, Centers Step Ahead & 1/4 In as Ends 1/4 In & Step Ahead. Adjust as necessary to end in Facing Couples.

Explode The Wave [Plus] (Jack Lasry 1965): From a Wave (or Inverted Line). Step Thru & turn 1/4 toward the center of the Line; Right Pull By. Ends in Back-to-Back Couples.

Reverse Explode [from a Wave] [C1]: From a Wave or Inverted Line. As one movement, Step Thru & 1/4 Out. Ends in Back-to-Back Couples.

Reverse Explode [from a Line] [C4]: From any Line of 4. As one movement, Ends Step Ahead and 1/4 Out as Centers 1/4 Out and Step Ahead. Adjust as necessary to end in Back-to-Back Couples. Reverse Explode [from a Line] was voted off the C1 list several years ago, and is rarely used at any level any more.
